| Bio: | This Journal is now a mirror of http://indigoskynet.livejournal.com, prompted by the Son of Strikethrough '07, Bolding '07 thundering its way across the cyberscape, with trolls nipping at its heels. Some basics The Disclaimer I talk about a lot of things, including hot topics and controverisal topics. A lot of these are sensitive issues for a lot of people, including me. When I am speaking passionately, it shows in my writing, and my phraseology may not necessarily make things as clear as I'd like. Therefore, It's probably not a good idea to presume I'm talking about you in particular, nor about every single person who holds [viewpoint] or belongs to [group]. My philosophy: follow the way of Buckaroo Banzai: "comfort the afflicted, afflict the comfortable." I also follow the true Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you [or in plain English: treat people the way you want to be treated yourself]. I also follow: Keep no secrets [of your own]. Your real friends will not care, and your enemies will have nothing to hold against you. Got it off a sugar packet many years ago, and it's served me well. I also follow the Inverse Corrolary to Thumper's Law: Thumper's Law: If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say anything at all. Inverse Corrolary: If you have something nice to say, say it. This often conflicts with my opinions on politics and things I consider human rights violations, but other than that, I do try to live by it. I am a fangirl. This means I will babble cheerfully about things I enjoy: Harry Potter, the 4400, Heroes, movies, music, comic books, other TV shows, conventioneering, and so on. I also will post drabbles [100 word mini fanfics] and fan art. SPOILER POLICY: I will try to be considerate of spoilers to a point. Theatrical Release Motion Pictures: When the movie hits DVD, you are on your own. Straight to DVD Release Motion Pictures: When the movie hits lowest-tier cable TV, you are on your own. Books: When the book goes from hardcover to paperback, you're on your own. Comic books: When a comic goes to trade paperback, you're on your own. TV: One week. Repeat airings. VCR. Tivo. YouTube. MySpace. The network's own webpage. Media jump: When a book becomes a movie or a TV show, the book starts over as spoiler until the movie or TV show hits DVD. I am an artist. I draw a lot. Especially when my emotions are high or I've been inspired. My style is best described as "Disney, Anime, and Comic Book Art all got together and donated bits and bobs and created a frankenartstyle." This is not meant as a slam on my art -- rather an indication of where my influences come from. I am a feminist. I don't really care for sexist slams on women. I don't like Women in Refrigerators syndrome. And I am pro-choice. Pro-choice includes the choice to have the baby if you wish. If you consider pro-choice to be pro-abortion, that's your issue. Do not take your issue out on me. I am a geek. I about live on the internet. I have very strong Google-fu. I have strong Wiki-fu. And I know what Godwin's Law is. I am opinionated. I tend to talk about my opinions a lot. About whatever. I can pretty much be counted on to speak out against anything that I have thoughts on. Particularly if it upsets me. I am very talkative. But I will do my best to give either an icon or an entry header so you know whether it's something you'll care about reading or not. Mental I am an INFJ who often pretends to be an ENFJ. As such, on any given day, I may not have a lot of spoons to spare. I am extremely sensitive. That means I'm easily hurt, but I'm trying to be less hairtrigger online. I will try to ask for clarification if I'm in doubt. I am not perfect, so don't expect perfection out of me. I hate name-calling, but I have slipped into the unfortunate tendency myself when under stress. Just one example. I suffer from several levels of depression. If you can't be compassionate, it's better you just let me be until I come out of it. Trying to be tough with me or telling me to pull myself up by my bootstraps will have the opposite effect than desired. I try to post 5 good things every day to keep my spirits up. I do not own the concept, but you are welcome to do the same if you like. I believe in "Expecto Patronum!" which means that if somebody's having a bad day and their own blues are descending on them and threatening to smother them -- I will step in and do what I can to help, with a kind word or a supportive remark. Because sometimes knowing you're not alone -- knowing somebody cares -- can ward off the darkness a bit. I watch Psychology Today because I like to keep track of my progress, and be aware of where my mental health level is at any given time. This is how I progress forward. Religion I am a follower of Kuan Yin, Isis, Pele, Nike, and somebody else who has yet to identify. I believe Jesus Christ was a very cool dude, but I am not particularly nuts about the way some/many [not all] Christians seem inclined to interpret what I understood were teachings of love, tolerance, understanding, and peace. I am heterosexual, and monogamous but like my bumper sticker says, that means "I'm straight but not narrow." Other lifestyles are not my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get to enjoy your cup of tea. I'm in a committed relationship. To each their own, live and let live, okay? Work I work customer service [and am heading toward training] for a major telecommunications company I cannot name online. As such, I am very sensitive about people with entitlement issues. I am just plain intolerant of people who think it's okay to abuse the person who picks up the phone, no matter how bad your situation may or may not be; no matter how aggravated you are. If you can remember that when you call customer service, you are talking to another human being with feelings, then we'll get along just fine. More as I can think of it. | |||||||||
